Cmd-Click Open Sidebar item in a new window
Switch Finder views
Cmd-1, Cmd-2, Cmd-3, Cmd-4 (Icon, List, Column, Cover Flow)
Right Arrow In List view, expand a folder
Left Arrow In List view, collapse a folder
Press Return (or Enter) Rename the selected file/folder
Cmd-Down Arrow Go into selected folder or open the selected file
Cmd-Up Arrow Go to parent folder
Cmd-[ (that’s left bracket) Go Back
Cmd-] (that’s right bracket) Go Forward
Tab (Shift-Tab reverses direction) Select the next icon in Icon and List views
Tab (Shift-Tab reverses direction) Alternate columns in Column View
Hold Option while mousing over long filename Instantly show long file name (for names condensed with a “...”)
Double-Click column resize widget Resize one column to fit the longest file name
Option Double-Click resize widget Resize all columns to fit their longest file names
Cmd-C, then Cmd-V Copy and Paste files
Move a file instead of copying.
Cmd-Drag file to disk (Copies to the destination and removes it from the original disk.)
Cmd-Delete Move selected files to the Trash
Cmd-Shift-Delete Empty the Trash (with warning)
Cmd-Opt-Shift-Delete Empty the Trash (without warning)
Esc Cancel a drag-n-drop action while in the midst of dragging
Cmd-Opt-I Show Inspector (a single, live refreshing Info window)
Cmd-Z Undo the last action (such as rename file, copy file, etc.)
Cmd-Opt-T Hide/Show Sidebar (on the left)
Cmd-Drag Move or Remove item in toolbar (at the top of the window). Works in most programs.
With file selected, tap Spacebar (or Cmd-Y) Open Quick Look (Mac OS 10.5+)
Cmd-Plus(+) or Cmd-Minus(-) Zoom In/Out on a Quick Look Preview
Cmd-Shift-F Find by File Name (Mac OS 10.5+)

Command line shortcuts

Press command-tab and hold the command key to keep the box open. Release the command key to switch to the selected application.

escape exit command-tab box (equivalent to pressing the period key (.))
H hide application
Q quit application
left/right arrow keys or home/end or `(grave accent)/tab select an application (you can also aim with the mouse)
up/down arrow keys view windows of selected application (use arrow keys to navigate, then press enter to select window)
